William R. (Bill) Scissom, 81, of Hixson, TN, passed away peacefully in his sleep of natural causes on Saturday, July 25, 2020.

Bill was born May 11, 1939 in Whitwell, TN, to Horace and Maudie Scissom. He grew up in Whitwell with six siblings and married Judy Carol Thomas on June 27, 1958. Bill was a truck driver in the Chattanooga area for years before retiring from Overnight Transportation in 2004. He was a long time member of the Hixson Masonic Lodge.

Bill is survived by a son, David (Beth) Scissom of Lebanon, TN, three grandchildren, Amanda (Josh) Banks, Julia Daniel and Tyler Scissom, and two great-grandchildren, Max Daniel and Alex Banks as well as a brother Joe (Wanda) Scissom of Altamont, TN. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends in the Chattanooga area.

Preceded in death by wife, Judy Scissom (Thomas), son, Mark Scissom, brothers, Kenneth, Stanley and Fredrick; sisters, Judy Ezell-Edwards and Gloria Condra.

Graveside services will be held at Chattanooga Memorial Park on Friday, July 31, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor, Donald Ferguson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society (donate3.cancer.org) in honor of his late wife Judy.
