Spencer D. Smith, age 82, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023.

Spencer attended Chattanooga Central High School and was a veteran of the United States Air Force.  He was the owner of S & S Sales and a member of Red Bank Church of Christ.

Preceded in death by mother Evelyn Clopton Pars, father Rufus Lee Smith, and brother-in-law Randy Wiggins.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years – Nina Jo Smith, son, and daughter-in-law – Spencer D. Smith Jr. (Lynne) of Hixson, daughters, and sons-in-law – Clara Howe (Ben) of Hendersonville, and Debbie Plemons (Ezra) of Tellico Plains, grandchildren – Hailey Smith (Luke), Nicholas Howe, Katelyn Smith, Madison Howe, and Jackson Plemons, sister – Margie Wiggins, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Hamilton Funeral Home in Hixson on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. with Steve Lusk officiating.

Interment will be held Friday, February 24, 2023, at 10:30 am at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 23, 2023, from 1:00-4:00 pm, at the Hamilton Funeral Home located at 4506 Hixson Pike.
