Obituary

Sherman Peed, born in Bedford, on November 4, 1944, passed away on January 21, 2026, at the age of 81.

Sherman is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Jane Peed; his son, Chris; daughter in law, Melissa; their four children, Tony, Emily, Evan, and Natalie. He was also blessed with two great- grandchildren, Harper and Easton. He is survived by his nephews, Bruce and Jeff.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Doris Peed; his sisters, Shirley and Sharron; his niece, Cassy, and his nephews, Jason and Brad.

Sherman built a successful career in manufacturing and retired from Burner Systems International as Senior Vice President of Global Operations. He spent his professional life focused on gas products for household goods and grills, and he held three patents. He took tremendous pride in his work and in providing for his family.

Outside of his career, Sherman was an avid hunter and sport shooter, and an amateur gunsmith who enjoyed working with his hands. He was a long-time member of the Highland Sportsman's Club and served as a past president, a role he took seriously and was proud of.  Sherman valued independence, hard work, and loyalty. He loved the outdoors, and time spent in the woods or at the range was often where he was happiest.

He shared a special bond with Bob and Mia Ballard and their sons, Dylan and Connor, who were like family to him. Bob was not only a longtime neighbor but his best friend. Sherman introduced Bob to hunting, and the many years they spent together in the woods and at the range were among his most treasured memories.

Sherman will be remembered for his strength, his steady presence, and the deep love he had for his family and friends.
