Sandra Phillips, 46, was called home to be with the Lord this past Monday, October 23, 2023, after a short and unexpected illness.  She was a beloved wife, mother, daughter and sister that touched the lives of all that met her.  Her children and husband were her world, and she was a terrific homemaker and parent, keeping a strong and loving high standard that will continue to serve them well, now that she's gone.

Sandra was born in Heidelberg, Germany to Angelika and Helmut Burkhardt.  The first of three children, she attended St. Raphael Catholic school through graduation, and began her secondary education at the University of Heidelberg to become a pediatric nurse.

She met her future husband Rick while he was stationed in Heidelberg with U.S. Army V Corps.  They dated several years, and as Rick transitioned from the Army and returned to the States, they married in Charleston, South Carolina in 2001.  They lived in South Carolina where they welcomed the birth of and raised their son and daughter.  The family relocated to Hixson Tennessee in 2013, and continue to reside there today.

Sandra enjoyed planning intimate family vacations, game nights, hiking adventures to find new waterfalls, extravagant Christmases, birthdays, and other celebrations that enriched all their lives.  Her selfless devotion to her family ensured that we would all experience it together, and that it would broaden our world and appreciation for nature, the benefit of relaxation against challenging school or work, and to find the value and enjoyment of the little things in life as a family.

She is survived by her husband and two children, Lucas & Eliana; mother, Angelika Burkhardt; sister, Diana Webber; brother,  Andreas Burkhardt and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She will be greatly missed by her family and network of friends that she built up over the years through her childrens' school sports and activities.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hamilton Funeral Home.
