Sandra A. Carter, 87, passed away on March 20 ^th , 2022 at the Bridge in Ooltewah, TN. Sandra was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio, the oldest of fourteen children. The former valedictorian and homecoming queen was a loving wife and mother. Sandra loved gardening and was a wiz with a sewing machine. She loved her girl trips with her three daughters, and took an active interest in the sporting events her children played. After her children were older, she went back to college and graduated with honors from Middle Tennessee State University. She earned a Master's Degree in education and taught math at Austin Peay State University until she retired in 1999.

She was recently preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Ralph I. Carter and her parents Joseph and Florence G. (Vellenga) McMullen.

Sandra is survived by eight children, Barry Carter (Rebecca), Jefferson, LA, Karen Carter (Bonnie), Chattanooga, TN, Linda Carter (Connie), Hixson, TN, Nancy Templeton, Hattiesburg MS, Brian Carter, Estill Springs, TN, Kevin Carter (Tammy), Humbolt, TN, Mathew Carter, Hattiesburg, MS, and James Carter (Michelle), Clarksville, TN, as well as eight grandchildren; Jeremy, Ashley, Tim, Andy, Griffin, Jackson, Joshua, Addison, and 5 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to especially thank the staff at the Bridge, Adoration Hospice, and Teresa Killian for the special care she received towards the end of her life.

A joint celebration of life for Ralph and Sandra will be held at a later date.
