Ruth H. Barker, 78, of Falling Water/ Hixson, TN, community passed away peacefully at her home Friday, October 21, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.

Ruth was born January 13, 1944 and graduated from Red Bank high School.  She served as school secretary of Falling Water Elementary School for 38 years.  She was a member of Union Springs Baptist Church.  She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother as well as a Christian who loved serving the Lord.  She enjoyed sewing, baking and playing the organ and piano.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry F. Barker; parents, Glenn and Mae Hart; sister, Joyce Burnette and brothers, Rex Hart, George Hart and Charles Hart.

Survivors include her daughter, Melinda (Robbie) Davis; grandchildren, Owen Vice, Taylor Davis and Brandon Davis; brother, Eldon Hart; sisters, Amy Shipley, Dolly Barnett, Peg (James) Adams and Dorothy Johnson as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

A graveside service for Ms. Barker  will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Bro. Odell Broadway and Bro. David Neal officiating.

Visitation will be on Thursday, October 27, 2022 from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Home in Hixson prior to the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers donations may be to Union Springs Baptist Church, 5911 Levi Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37415 or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
