His also survived by his brother, Don Eldridge (Karen). Robert will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other extended family members and many dear friends.
Robert was born on March 31, 1929 and raised in North Chattanooga. He first lived on Federal Street and, as James and Annie's family grew, later moved to Clarendon Street. Robert graduated from Chattanooga City High School in 1947. It was there that he met the love of his life, Jeannette Brown, with whom he would marry and raise a wonderful and loving family.
During high school Robert worked at Riverview Pharmacy where he received advice that would have a positive impact on countless people - his boss suggested Robert become a pharmacist. With that seed planted Robert earned his Doctorate of Pharmacy at the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Memphis.
After completing his pharmacy degree he was drafted into the US Army where he dutifully served his country at Fort McPherson.
Completion of his military service was the beginning of a successful and rewarding 59 year pharmacy career. At Red Bank Pharmacy he and his long time partner, Bobby Gordon, ran a successful pharmacy business built on compassion and personal relationships with their customers. He had many loyal customers who became friends through the years. After selling Red Bank Pharmacy in 1989 Robert worked at Eckerd Drugs and then part time at Moore and King before retiring in 2010.
Robert was an active member of Hixson Presbyterian Church for over 40 years where he enjoyed serving the Lord by greeting his brothers and sisters in Christ, ushering them into the sanctuary, working in the kitchen, and counting tithes each Monday morning.
Robert was loved by many for his genuine kindness and sincere affection for those around him. He never met a stranger and all were considered friends.
