Ralph Irvin Carter,87, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away on January 31, 2022. He was born on May 29, 1934 in Bellefontaine, Ohio and last resided at The Bridge in Ooltewah.

He met and married his love, Sandra McMullen 67 years ago.  Together they weathered the raising of 8 children, Barry Carter (Rebecca), Jefferson, LA, Karen Carter (Bonnie), Chattanooga, TN, Linda Carter (Connie), Hixson, TN, Nancy Templeton, Hattiesburg MS, Brian Carter, Estill Springs, TN, Kevin Carter (Tammy), Humbolt, TN, Mathew Carter, Hattiesburg, MS, and James Carter (Michelle), Clarksville, TN.  He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Jeremy, Ashley, Tim, Andy, Griffin, Jackson, Joshua, Addison, as well as 5 great-grandchildren.

He started his work life as a machinist at Rockwell and retired from Ardco Corporation as a manufacturing engineer in 1996. As a past member of the Satan's Angels Drum and Bugle Corp, he enjoyed listening to drum corp music throughout his life. He always looked forward to family reunions and rounds of golf with his children and friends. As a man who loved all things "Buckeye", he had a special affinity for the "The Best Damn Band In Land".

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
