Obituary

Paula Altman Turner, 91, departed this life peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026.

A native of Chattanooga, TN, she was the oldest daughter of three children born to the late Fred Altman and Nina Gladish Altman.  Paula spent some of her childhood years in the Pacific Northwest before returning to Chattanooga, TN, in 1947.  She graduated from Central High School, class of 1952.

Paula worked as a secretary for several schools, churches and various companies.  She retired from Phillip Morris in 1992 after 11 years of service. She and her husband, Marvin, traveled the world after retirement and lived in Indonesia for three years while Marvin served as a consultant for several global companies.

Paula was an avid bridge and mahjong plyer, one who loved movies, books and bargains and was a very talented seamstress.  In her recent years, Paula could be found lounging by or floating in a pool, content with a cool beverage and a paperback book.

Paula was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Marvin Allen Turner.

Survivors include her two daughters, Nina (Jody Evans) Turner and Lisa (Ben Mundie) Turner; grandchildren, Madison Mundie, Nolan Mundie and James Turner; brother, Ralph Altman; sister, Sally (Gerald) Scott and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and numerous friends.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Alexian Village Healthcare for their kindness and dedication during her stay.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions may be made to the ATV Healthcare Scholarship Fund.

A memorial service is planned in the spring for family and friends.

Arrangements are by Hamilton Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4506 Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN 37343, (423) 531-3975.
