Obituary

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Peggie Lynn Renfro at the age of 69. She left us on August 13th, 2023, surrounded by the love and warmth of her family.

Born in Middle Valley, TN, on July 2, 1954, Lynn was the rock and caregiver of her family, exuding strength,  She was always there for those in need, be it with a Band-Aid or an Advil for someone who slid too hard into second base at the ballfield or with her delightful "cookies-on-a-stick" to bring a smile. Her infectious laughter, which she shared freely, reminded all of the importance of joy and the beauty of life.

Lynn's love for nature was evident in her affinity for plants and flowers. An ardent fan of SEC Football, and much to her daughter's dismay, she cheered loudly for the University of Alabama. Her sense of humor wasn't limited to any topic, including the Alabama-Louisiana State rivalry (her daughter's favorite team). They played each other every year on Maggie's birthday weekend, and one year even surprised Maggie with her favorite cookie cake--decorated in purple white and gold--reading "Roll Tide Maggie!"
She met husband Johnny Luther Renfro in Lompoc, California, after taking a trip with one of her best friends and late sister-in-law, Donna Coffey. Johnny's father told him he was "bringing him a girlfriend," and sure enough, Lynn stayed in California and they began their life together. Eventually they made it back to their mutual hometown of Chattanooga, TN, and raised their only daughter, Margaret (Maggie) Renfro.

Lynn was predeceased by her parents, Patsy Ruth and Silas Quarles.

She is remembered and survived by her siblings: Lane Quarles and wife Teresa, Lyle Quarles, and Alexander Quarles and wife Stacie. Alongside them, she leaves behind her devoted husband, Johnny; daughter, Maggie; her life-long best friend, Toni Overby and her son Matthew Overby, wife Chandler, and daughter Lennon. Even the family cat, Wasabi, was a comfort in her final days, never leaving Lynn's side for more than a couple of hours.

A celebration of Lynn's life will be held at Hamilton Funeral Home in Hixson, TN, on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 2:00 pm.  Friends and family are invited for visitation from 11:00 am until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
