Obituary

Oather "Dwayne" Cales, was born July 13 th , 1959 in Roanoke, VA and passed away March 31 st , 2022.

Dwayne attended William Fleming High School and Virginia Western Community College. He retired from the City of Roanoke as a pipe-layer then moved to Chattanooga in 2004 where he began the next chapter of his life working for the City of Chattanooga at Moccasin Bend Wastewater Treatment Plant. Most recently he was a Pretreatment Inspector 2, in the Waste Resources Division where he collaborated with industry personnel to monitor and manage their wastewater discharge. Dwayne was multi-faceted and multi-talented.  He loved the band Grateful Dead, having been fortunate enough to see all the original members.  He loved music, building model cars and was a Civil War reenactor for decades, first in Virginia, then locally.  Dwayne loved and had respect for nature and enjoyed hiking and camping.  He was proud to be called a biker, together with the long beard/hair, leathers and his faithful Indian Classic that he rode in all weather conditions.  Dwayne worked hard all of his life from the age of 16.  He loved God, his family and life. Although he passed suddenly at home and gone way too soon, he will be greatly missed by many.

He is survived by his wife Debbie (Mckinney), son, Stephen W. Cales, daughter-in-law, Cady L.E. Cales, "Chosen Mom", JoAnn McKinney.

He was preceded in death by this father, Oather Jackson Cales, his mother, Helen Y. Cales, sister, Bonnie G. Cales, brother, Lee J. Cales.

Memorial services will be helds at a later date.
