Mary Cecilia Brewer (98) of Chattanooga, TN passed away October 10, 2022. She was born the day after April fool's day in 1924. Mary would say that she was glad she wasn't born the day before.

Mary completed her accounting degree and worked for many years at Notre Dame High School as their bookkeeper.  She and her siblings had gone to school there when they were young.  Mary never married due partially to the fact that when she was 6 years old she was diagnosed with polio and this affected her life moving forward. She took care of those in her family needing assistance, including Ann Brewer Leutgens, her youngest sister. There were a total of nine in her family.  Mary was a very hard worker as she lived on her own all of her life.  She was very smart and independent.  Mary, and her long past relatives, have a rich history in the Chattanooga area, going back many generations.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents Charles Albert Brewer and Martha Stolpmann.

Mary is survived by two sisters, Patty Spagna of Naples, Florida and Marty Duffy in Missouri.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at The Basilica at St. Peters and Paul Catholic Church Friday, October 14, 2022 at 9:30am.

There will be a private burial where Mary will be laid to rest with her family at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
