Obituary

Martin Luther McNabb, 94, of Harrison, TN passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 30, 2022. Martin was born on January 2, 1928 to Carl and Myrtle McNabb. He was a well-known contractor in the Chattanooga area and often known as "Slab McNabb".

Martin served in the United States Army in the 101 st ABN division as a PFC (T) 18. During his time served, he received the Army of Occupation Medal (Germany). He was active in the TN Walking Horse Association, a previous member of the TN Dahlia Society and a member of Harrison Masonic Lodge for 50+ years. He was one of the youngest to retire from TVA after ten years and pursued his love for building. He then became a contractor, always building houses, duplexes, car washes, houseboats, campers, churches, all along with developing land. In his later years, he loved to build outdoor furniture, bird houses and much more. Martin enjoyed working on his farm of 35+ years and took great pride in his vegetable and dahlia garden. Every Christmas he looked forward to raising his thirty-foot star he built for everyone to see and enjoy. In his past time Martin enjoyed watching his son, Matt, show TN Walking Horses, beekeeping and was a regular at Hungry House for 70 years.  Martin was a loving husband, dad, granddad, uncle and friend. He lived a full life that was well lived, filled with numerous stories, lots of love, laughter, and sweets. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Cheryl, sons, Matt (Tiffany) McNabb, Noah (Hannah) McNabb, Mike (Dorothy) McNabb, daughters, Frannie (Larry) Godair, Karen McNabb, nephew, Wes (Lindsey) DeShazo, brother, Jim McNabb, sisters Joy McNabb, and Betty (Don) Davis, as well as his grandchildren Hunter and Payton McNabb, Jim Gardner, Mallory (Greg) Smith, 5 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

We would also like to extend an abundance of gratitude to Hazel Ross, who is like family and for all that she has done over the years.
