Marilyn Cannon Thomas a former resident of Hixson, TN died on 03/08/2026 at Dade Health and Rehab in Trenton, GA after a long illness.
Marilyn was born 12/24/1943 in Detroit, MI to her parents Robert Ed. and Audrey Brown Cannon, who were there working in the war plants until her father was drafted into the service.

Marilyn was raised on a farm in Cookeville, TN. She graduated from Cookeville Central High School in 1962. There she met the love of her life, Ron Thomas. They were married in 1964, after dating for four years.
Marilyn worked as a bank teller for the First National Bank of Cookeville, Hamilton National Bank and SunTrust Bank of Chattanooga and the Abilene State Bank of Abilene, Texas.

Marilyn retired from SunTrust Bank (now Truist Bank) in Chattanooga in 2005, after 32 years. She enjoyed meeting and talking with people.
She was a member of the Hixson First Methodist Church.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Ron Thomas of Chattanooga, her two sons Randy of Huntsville AL, Matthew (Holly) of Chattanooga, 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, and her two sisters, Carol Cannon Moss of Cookeville TN and Barbara Cannon Lachapelle of Fayetteville GA.

Visitation will be on Monday, March 16, 2026, from 10 AM-12:00 PM at Hamilton Funeral Home 4506 Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN 423-531-3975 followed by a Celebration of Life Service at Hamilton Funeral Home at 12:00 PM with Rev. Josh Diggs of the Clear Creek Church of Christ in Hixson officiating the service.

Marilyn would be honored if you, in lieu of flowers, made a Memorial contribution in her name to the at-risk children of Bethel Bible Village Children's Home, P. O. Box 729, Hixson,
TN 37343-0729.

A short dedication service and Burial will be at the Chattanooga National Cemetery immediately following the service.
