Obituary

Marcia Biggs, 91, achieved angel status on March 30, 2024.We know she is happy to be reunited with her beloved Hal, who preceded her in death in 2012 after 47 years of marriage and many, many special memories. She is also preceded in death by and her parents, Sue Pernice and Ronald Stanforth.  She is survived by her older brother, Carlton Stanforth of Kokomo, IN, her six children: Chris (Angel) Biggs of Alexandria, VA.; Kathy (Jeff) Rose of Chattanooga; Barb Bowen of Chattanooga; Holly (Jeff) Kaufman of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; Dan (Janet) Herron of Mooresville, Indiana; and John (Denise) Herron of Norcross, GA; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She loved a family gathering more than anything in the world, including holiday dinners, family reunions, and shared vacations, and was often the facilitator of these events.

Marcia grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and attended the University of Cincinnati. In 1969 she and Hal moved to Chattanooga where she ultimately became a well-known and successful realtor enjoying various leadership roles in the local real estate industry. Hal and Marcia traveled to a dozen different countries and even lived in South America for a few months. A loyal member of Rivermont Presbyterian Church, she was known for her creative writing skills and appreciated for her caring spirit and volunteer work within the congregation. Bridge was her hobby (and she was good at it!), tennis was her sport for many years, art was her lifelong passion, and they were both fans of UTC Mocs basketball. Marcia was a true friend, a good neighbor, and an outspoken citizen who often wrote letters to the editor of the local newspaper. But most of all, she was proud of her talented, creative, and successful children.
