Irene Louise Lumpkin Simmons, 86, of Hixson, left this life on Sunday, December 26, 2021.

Louise was born September 3, 1935 in Chattanooga, TN: growing up in Tiftonia. She attended Lookout Jr High and graduated from Central High in 1953. She retired from TN State Dept of Human Services after working there for 30+ years. She was a member of Hixson First Baptist Church.

Louise was known for her kind and sweet nature. She loved spending time with family especially holiday family gatherings. She also cherished her church family.

Louise loved music. She could still remember all the words to her favorite songs from her youth and would sing along when they were played….anything from 1950s Rock-n-Roll to hymns. She loved the beach and cherished the many visits to Daytona with her family when she was growing up.

Preceded in Death: Husband; Harry Simmons. Sister; Frances Lumpkin Carden, Brother-In-Law Jim Carden, Mother and Father; Myrtice & John Lumpkin.

She is survived and will be greatly missed by:  Her Beloved Son; Lee Simmons of Hixson, Sister;  Joyce Lumpkin (Bob) Piercy of Powell, TN,  Niece; Jimmie Jean Carden Neve of Knoxville, Nephew; David (Joyce) Carden of Knoxville, Niece; Cherie Piercy of Knoxville, Great-Niece; Patti Osborne (Art) Gomez of Lodi, CA, Great-Niece: Amanda Carden (Ian) McKinley of Knoxville, Brother-In-Law; Jessie Simmons of Hixson, as well as more nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 30, 2021 in Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021 prior to the funeral service in the chapel at Hamilton Funeral Home.

Interment will be private.
