Joyce Turner Smith, 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.

She transitioned peacefully after a brief illness.  She was born in Whitwell, TN on 10/13/1931 and dedicated her life to her family and church.  She was a lifelong member of the North Chattanooga Church of God (The Ministry Center).  She was a graduate of Red Bank High School and attended Lee College in Cleveland, Tn. With her love for the Word of God and her lifelong love of learning, she could often be found with her Bible, commentaries, or a book in her hand.  In recent years, she could be found with a computer or smart phone researching or checking in on her family and friends. She loved cooking and baking. Everyone close to her had their favorite recipes and she knew each and every family members' favorite. She welcomed many into her home, with a door that was always open. On holidays, family often brought along friends who were treated as family and often returned for future celebrations. Mother was always a gracious host and had a love for many.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Maye Lusk Turner and Ray H. Turner, husband George E. Smith, brothers Larry L. Young and Lewis Turner, and great grandson Sabastian Hall. She is survived by her children: Renee Roark (Danny), Sheila Wandelt (Craig), Daniel Smith (Michele), Reva Smith, Sonja Allison (Timothy), grandchildren: Deondra Dodson (Jody), Dustin Roark, Chris Cope (Haley), Katheryne Baxter (Seth), Alexandra Clark (Bailey), Gabriel Allison, and great grandchildren: Connor and Cameron Dodson, Emma and Caleb Cope, Zena Clark, Zane and Trinity Baxter.

Joyce left a strong and lasting legacy of faith, family, and a love for God.  Her quiet and steady strength was admired by all. She will be greatly missed by friends and loved ones, but all are comforted in the knowledge that she is rejoicing and resting with her Lord and Savior and loved ones that have gone before her.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Hamilton Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmie Talley and Rev. Gerald Holloway officiating.

Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Hamilton Funeral Home in Hixson, TN on Thursday, May 12, 2022 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.  and on Friday, May 13, 2022 from 9:00 t0 10:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service in the chapel.
