J.C. Lanier, 95, of Ooltewah, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021.

Mr. Lanier was born on January 18, 1926 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to the late Clyde and Hazel Lanier.

He was a graduate of Westside High School in 1944.  Then joined the United States Army, after completing his military duties he was employed as a guard at DuPont and later purchased his own truck and drove for Baggett Transportation before retiring.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Reba Lanier; parents, Clyde and Hazel Lanier; brothers, Leo, Cecil and Jack Lanier.

Survivors include his daughter, Jackie (Dennis) Potts; grandsons, Corey (Jessica) Potts, Brandon (Becca) Potts; great grandchildren, Kendall, Carly, Maggie, Logan; sister-in-law, Pat Lanier; brother, Gary Lanier; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 20, 2021 at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.

There will be no public visitation.
