Janie Muse Dawson, 66, of Hixson, left this earthly life September 7, 2020.

She was a member of First Baptist Church and the church library staff.  As a free-lance illustrator, she enjoyed the art and poetry she created and prayed her work would be an encouragement to others.

I want to thank my family, friends and church family who have blessed me with love, laughter, encouragement and prayers throughout the years.  How blessed I have been to have had them in my life… they were truly my "angels-without-wings." My husband Steve was Jesus to me with his sweet, humble spirit and selfless sacrifice, always putting my needs and concerns above his own without a complaint. I also thank my sister who did so much for me.

She was preceded in death by her parents Archie B. & Peggy Muse, her grandparents Herbert L. & Bessie McDaniel and father-in-law, Garlen Dawson.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Steven L. Dawson, sister, Terrie  Ann (David) Flewellen,  Katelyn (Chris) Leahy, Caroline Flewellen,  great-niece, Mia Leahy, mother-in-law, Chris  Dawson,  sister-in-law, Susan (Tim) White and many other beloved family members.

I would choose to celebrate my healing, rather than having a memorial service during this time, I would ask that donations to the following be made: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Tennessee Baptist Children's Home, Mc Kamey Animal Center, Chattanooga Humane Society or the Chattanooga Food Bank.  Nothing would make me happier than to know my home going is helping others!  Thank you, dear friends and family, for being such a special part of my life.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at National Cemetery with Reverend Thomas Quisenberry officiating.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
