Janie Burnett, 83, of Hixson, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 20, 2021 from natural causes.

Janie was a kindergarten teacher, worked at several accounting firms, and eventually retired from Synthetic Industries. She is a member of Hixson United Methodist Church. She enjoyed holidays, cooking for other people, and spending time with her family and grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Burnett, of 62 years; her parents, Myrtle and Joe Jackson, brother, J.D. Jackson, and sister, Betty Green.

Survivors include three daughters, Pam (Steve) Reburn, Karen Burnett, Lisa (Doug) Nicely, five grandchildren, Mitch, Jaclyn, Nikki, Kacie, Kristy, and one great-grandchild, Kayla; two brothers Lloyd (Lois) Jackson and Wayne Jackson.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 (noon) p.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Hamilton Funeral Home, with Reverend Drew McCallie and The Honorable Judge Clarence Shattuck officiating.

Interment will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the chapel service at Hamilton Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hixson United Methodist Church, C/O Sam McConnell Sunday School Class or St. Jude Children Hospital.
