James A. 'Rock' Horne, 71, of Chattanooga, TN, passed away on June 12, 2021 at the Hospice Care Center of Chattanooga.

Rock was born in Hartsville, SC, on December 14, 1949, son of the late J.W. Horne and Louise Jacobs Horne. He is predeceased by his wife, Billye Mims Horne.

He is survived by his children James Alan Horne, Jr., and Kristen (Horne) Hickman (Ed Hickman). He is also survived by his brother, Mike Horne (Denna Horne); his grandchildren, Aiden Horne, Brycen Horne, Tyler Hickman (Rebecca Walden Hickman), Carli Hickman, and Cruz Hickman; his nieces and nephews, Lisa H. Grantham (Matt Grantham), Jay Horne (Monica Denzer Horne), Matt Horne, Beau Sutherlin (Wendi Walden Sutherlin), Blake Sutherlin, and Lawes Honeycutt.

Rock and Billye moved to Chattanooga in 1984, where they raised their family. He was a plant manager for Sonoco Products Company, and would later retire after 30+ years.

Rock loved the Lord, his family, friends, and the Clemson Tigers. If Clemson was playing, he was cheering them on from the stands or glued to the TV (with no interruptions). He believed in hard work, had a personality that was full of life, and loved to joke around with those he loved the most. One thing is certain, he loved his family with his whole heart. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 4506 Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN.  Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home in Hartsville, SC will be arranging the graveside service on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to one of his favorite organizations, Boys Town ( www.boystown.org ).

The family is especially grateful for the care he received these last few months from CHI Memorial Hospital, Life Care Center of Hixson, and the Hospice Care Center of Chattanooga.
