Gloria Baker
Howard
Jul 8, 1933 — Jun 16, 2026
Soddy Daisy
Gloria Jo (Baker) Howard, 92, passed away June 16, 2026. Born in Henderson, Texas and raised in Hobbs, New Mexico and Pampa Texas, Gloria lived a life marked by determination and resilience. Throughout her life she worked hard to provide for those she loved and took pride in her work as a Registered Nurse, first in public health and later in infection control.
She moved to Tennessee in 1954 after marrying her husband, John, and together they raised five children. She still found time between work and family life to teach herself to cook wonderful meals, sew professional-quality drapes, curtains and clothes, grow wildflowers and orchids, rescue an uncounted number of dogs and cats, and become an avid birdwatcher. Her life touched many people over the years, including family, friends, neighbors and colleagues.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary (John) Lynch and Catherine (Adam) Arthur; two sons, John Howard and Michael (Mary Jacobson) Howard, her granddaughters Heather Hughes and Hannah Howard and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John and son Joseph.
The family is grateful to those who provided care and companionship during her final years. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Pet Placement Center, Reflection Riding or your favorite charitable organization.
