Gary Michael Thorp, 70, of Hixson, TN, passed away at home on Sunday, April 10, 2022, after a long battle with cancer.

Gary was a graduate of Grinnell High School in 1969. Then worked most of his life for GTE in Grinnell, Iowa and later in Wentzville, MO as well as Tampa, FL and retired in 2003.

He was born on September 22, 1951, in Grinnell, Iowa, to parents Elta Fern (Dunton) Thorp and Clifford Baty Thorp, who preceded him in death, and a brother, Roger Thorp, of Des Moines, Iowa, who also preceded him.

Survivors include his husband, Richard West; distant relatives include, Marjorie Kaloupek of Grinnell, Iowa and many friends.

A private service will be held at a later date.
