Obituary

Evelyn Taylor Gabor, 91, died peacefully and surrounded by family on June 30, 8:30 pm at Regency House Assisted Living Facility, Hixson, TN.  Evelyn was born in Barnesville, GA to Floyd and Bessie (Buffington) Taylor and was the youngest of two children.  On November 22, 1947, Evelyn married Paul Frederick Gabor (deceased) in Mansfield, Ohio.  Together they raised four sons.

Evelyn was a longtime member of the St. Jude Catholic Church parish in Chattanooga.  She was a member of the Rosary Makers group for several years.  Evelyn loved square dancing and along with her husband, Paul was a founding member of the Allemande Hall Square Dancing facility in East Brainerd.  For several years they were active members of the Star Twirlers square dancing club. Evelyn had a love of wildflowers and was a charter member of the Association of Amateur Field Botanists.  Evelyn's greatest love was her family.  She made numerous trips and participated in countless get togethers with her sons and their families.  If Evelyn was with family, she was happy.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Paul, her parents, and her brother James W. Taylor.  She is survived by her four sons, Dennis (Emily), Gary (Teresa), Brian (Donna), Kevin (Stephanie), nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are being made by Hamilton Funeral Home, Hixson.  A funeral Mass will be offered at St. Jude Catholic Church.  Interment will be at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Regency House Assisted Living for the wonderful care and support they provided.  They would also like to thank Hearth Hospice of Chattanooga for the tremendous service they provided.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Evelyn's name to St. Jude Catholic Church, 930 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, TN 37415 or Hearth Hospice of Chattanooga, 513 Georgia Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37403.
