Elizabeth (Jeri)
Jermaine Shaw Sorrow
Feb 18, 1939 — Jan 21, 2026
Chattanooga
Elizabeth Jermaine Shaw Sorrow, 86 of Chattanooga, TN, died on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
She was born on February 18, 1939, in Atlanta, GA at Emory University Hospital to the late William Jermaine Shaw and Elizabeth Sims Shaw.
On April 20, 1963, Jeri married John Wesley Sorrow, Jr. at Grace Methodist Church in Atlanta, where they made their home for four years. Robin Jermaine Sorrow was born on December 26, 1964 and John Wesley Sorrow III came on August 30, 1966.
Wesley took a position with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee, a position he held until 1995. Jeri's church life was very most important to her and she was so thankful to the Methodist church and the Pastors who served her so faithfully.
Jeri is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Wesley; her dear daughter, Robin Sorrow Pearson, MD and her husband, Scott Pearson, MD; her adored Will Pearson and precious John Pearson, wonderful grandsons; her dear son, John W. Sorrow III and his wife Ashley Dover Sorrow; granddaughter, Lela Kate Sorrow, the love of her life. Lela Kate came late in Jeri's life and she filled her life with great joy
In addition to the above penned by Jeri, yet another kind provision to her family, they would like to express sincere gratitude for the many care givers and supporters including First Centenary, the Morgan Class, Michelle Hunter, David Harr, Abide, Mimi, Celeste, Tammy, Adoration Hospice, Solomon House, Drs. Carruthers and Allen, Jessie, Brandi, Mandy and all the friends from the Southern Star.
A donation to the Abide Program at First Centenary would honor Jeri and her family.
The family will have a private graveside service.
The family will receive friends starting at 11 AM Friday, January 30, 2026, in the Narthex of First Centenary United Methodist Church, 419 McCallie Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37402, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 12 Noon with Pastor David Harr officiating.
