Edward (Ted) Whitaker Finlay passed away peacefully on September 9, 2021.

He was a native Chattanoogan and lived here his entire life.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth (Beth) Guess Finlay and son, Brian Spurlock Finlay, both of Signal Mountain, sister Tavenner Finlay Hall of Elder Mountain and five grandchildren: Katy Finlay, Ally Finlay, Whit Finlay, Reese Finlay and Mason Finlay.

He was preceded in death by son, Patrick Whitaker Finlay, parents Edward Finlay, Jr. and Phyllis Whitaker Finlay and brother Madison Spurlock Finlay.

Ted attended the Bright School, the Baylor School and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and retired from Provident Insurance Company. Ted was a communicant of Saint Timothy's Episcopal Church.

A private service is to be scheduled.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint Timothy's Book of Remembrance or Hospice of Chattanooga.
