Debby Sloan (Deborah Lee Sloan) passed away, surrounded by friends and family, on March 28 th , 2021 at the age of 57. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Born on June 25 th to David and Juanita Perry, she was a lifelong resident of Signal Mountain, TN. A follower of Jesus, she grew up playing piano and singing at Pinecrest Baptist Church, and as an adult she was a faithful member at Mount Carmel Baptist Church. On September 15, 1984, she married Gary Arnold Sloan and together they spent 37 years building a life and raising their two daughters, Lauren and Megan.
A graduate of Red Bank High School, she was a dedicated employee at Lawson Electric Company for nearly 33 years. As payroll administrator, she spent years planning vacation and days off around payroll day so that she could make sure every employee got their check on time, every time. She found joy watching the sunrise and strolling down the beaches of Tybee Island, GA. Her entire yard is visual evidence of her love of eccentric yard décor and planting beautiful flowers, trees, and shrubberies. She loved baking, and many friends and family members were lucky recipients of her delicious cupcakes over the years. An avid collector of cookie jars, she had amassed an extensive assortment that had to be rotated seasonally to display them all. She enjoyed spending time fishing and relaxing at The Red Fez Club on Possum Creek in Soddy Daisy, TN. Many evenings you'd find her sitting in her recliner beside her husband with her two dachshunds Sophie and Cricket lounging in her lap. One of her greatest joys was getting to be her grandson Perry's "Weezie" and spoiling him endlessly, much to his delight. She was kind, quick-witted, and always eager to love others well any way she could. She was happiest when she was with her friends and family, and they will feel the weight of her absence for years to come.
Debby is survived by her husband Gary Sloan of Signal Mountain, parents David Burton Perry and Ella Juanita Perry, daughters Lauren Walker and Megan Sloan, son-in-law Nick Walker, grandson Perry Walker, brother Alan Perry, brother-in-law John Cowart, sister-in-law Joan Sloan, and many beloved extended family members.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the family has decided to hold a small private ceremony. A celebration of life may be held at a later date. Condolences may be offered at hamiltonfuneraloptions.com. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in her memory to either The Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation or The Neuroendocrine Cancer Awareness Network.
