David L. Ivey, Sr., 78, of Hixson, died Friday, December 17, 2021 at home surrounded by family.

He was the most gentle, kind-hearted, giving man ever known. He worked at Chattanooga Glass Company for 26 1/2 years and retired from Kenco.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Pat Ivey; his parents, Joe and Sarah Ivey; sisters, Ruby Parker, Betty Jo Atchley, and Ruth Stuart; brother, Harold Ivey.

Left to keep his memory alive are his children David Ivey, Jr. (Jeannie) of Farragut, Kristie Steel of Graysville, Tammy Spray (Brian) of Hixson, and Tonya Reed (Johnny Hancock) of Dunlap; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Hamilton Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 22, 2021 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the funeral service in the chapel.
