Corena was 91.  She was born in 1931 in Bristol, Tennessee.  She grew up on the Holston River in the Hickory Tree Community.

She was a remarkable wife, mother, grandmother (8), great grandmother (10), and great, great grandmother (2).

She is survived by daughter Jan McBryar, sons Marty Puryear and Michael Puryear (Jan Puryear): By Sisters Lindy Booher, Peggy Trivette-Fields and honorary sister Nell Stewart.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Lewis Puryear, Father Mack Morrell and Mother Nora Morrell:  By sisters and brothers Margaret Morrell, Mary Lee Boyd, J. M. Morrell, Albert Morrell, Billy Morrell and by dear friend Fay Cook.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons Chad, Dylan, Geoff, Jordan, Brett, Brennan, dear friend Fred Johnson, nephew Don Puryear Jr. and Nephew Dr. Jeff Booher.

She was a beautiful soul and was known by everyone as Mammaw.  She had the kind of sweet spirit that drew family and friends close, and total strangers would be drawn to want to get to know her. She was soft spoken but firm in her beliefs, and lived the Gospel of Jesus Christ daily.  She was a collector of delicate things.  She was a Southern Belle, having worked for the Southern Bell Telephone Company as a Telephone Operator for 31 years.

We mourn her passing, but know that even though she may not be here, she will never be gone.

Funeral services will take place Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 11:00 am at Hamilton Funeral Home, 4506 Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN  37343.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2022  from 4pm – 7pm, at the funeral home and on Thursday, March 17, 2022 from 10am – 11am prior to the funeral service in the chapel.
