Claudia Sampley (Midge), 89, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on March 31, 2021. She was born October 17, 1931 in Falling Water to Claude and Gladys Hughes of Soddy Daisy.

She married MSgt W.C Sampley (Dub) August 13, 1955, and they shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be missed dearly.

Midge was a wonderful homemaker and especially enjoyed cooking for her family, crocheting and her travels with Dub. As a devoted Christian, she was a member of Lupton Drive Baptist Church.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy in life. "Grandma always made you feel she had been waiting to see just YOU all day and now the day was complete." She was the anchor and confidant for her daughter, Brenda.

Midge is survived by her daughter, Brenda Sampley Roberts; grandchildren, Jeremy Roberts, Amber Cunningham (Andrew), and Rose Brock (Jerry), great grandchildren; Makayla, Kylee, Payton, Mackenzie, and Korbyn; sisters, Phyllis, Mary, Sue, and Pam, along with several cousins, nieces and nephews. She will forever be loved by those of us left behind.

Midge was preceded in death by her loving husband MSgt W.C Sampley; parents, Claude and Gladys Hughes; siblings, Laura Lee, Bill, and JoAnn.

Family will receive friends 10:30 a.m. -12:30 Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Hamilton Funeral Home with the service to follow with Dr. Tony Wilson officiating.

Interment to follow to Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Jeremy Roberts, Joey Wormsley, Don Mills, Jerry Brock, Andrew Millan, Ronnie Nichols, and Cross McBryar will serve as active pallbearers. Jason McBryar will serve as honorary pallbearer.
