Christine Clarice (Stout) Seward

Loved handwriting letters to family and friends

Christine Clarice (Stout) Seward went to be with her brothers and sisters, mother and father in heaven on January 23, 2023.

Born February 27, 1927 in Berwick, Columbia County, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Pearl (Avery) Stout.

Christine was the last to pass away of her siblings Albert, Eugene, Raymond, and Clifford Stout and sisters Mila Bove and Nora Lewis.

Christine graduated from Nescopeck High School in 1946 where she had been a standout forward for the girls' basketball team.

A hard worker all her life, she was employed at Baer Company, Wise Potato Chips, and the Berwick Ribbon Factory/Offraywhence she retired after 25 years of service, all while keeping her home immaculate.

Christine enjoyed reading biographies of the famous and going to church on Sunday. She loved playing games with and reading to her grand- and great grandchildren. A great joy in her life in retirement was obtained from her communicating to her family and friends through long cursive handwritten letters. She preferred to know her local USPS postman by name, taking great joy in receiving cards and letters in return. In her later years she enjoyed playing bingo and sharing meals with her vibrant older adult friends and peers.

Christine was living near Chattanooga, TN and was still physically active shortly before she passed suddenly while recovering from a hip fracture.

Christine is sorely missed by her daughter Pamela Stocker of Cleveland, TN, and her son Larry Seward of Berwick, PA, her granddaughter Jessica with husband Joshua Waddell, greatgranddaughters Emmaline and Adeline and great grandson Caleb of McDonald, TN, her granddaughter Erica Angelino with significant other Joseph Janeski of Cleveland TN, and many nephews and nieces and their progeny.

Christine will be laid to rest on Friday, February 17, 2023 at a graveside service held at 1:00pm in Elan Memorial Cemetery in Bloomsburg, PA.

A celebration of life service will be held at the convenience of the family in the coming weeks.

Hamilton Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hixon, TN with an assist from the James L. Hinkley Jr. Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Berwick, PA are entrusted with the arrangements.
