He was a resident of Red Bank, TN.  Charlie was a member of Community Baptist Church in East Ridge, TN.  He loved the Lord and was a very faithful follower of the Bible.  Charlie always took the opportunity to quote scripture and loved discussing the coming Kingdom.  He also loved his Granddogs, antique cars, windmills, retro gas pumps, and anything vintage.  He loved to go to the ballfield with family to watch his   daughter-in-law play softball and visit with the fans.  Charlie was an active member, and past president, of the local chapter of the Antique Automobile Club of America.  He also loved spending time with his family in Tennessee and Indiana.

Charlie traveled to Ohio, to assist his brother with a start-up business, and it was there that he met his to be wife of 71 years, Wanda Morrison. Upon their return to Chattanooga, Charlie had a truck and some tools and started the Roto-Rooter franchise, became a mastered license plumber, and eventually retired owning Thurman Sewer Service.

Charlie is survived by his wife and love of his life, Wanda Thurman, son Randy Thurman; daughter-in-law Tina Thurman, nieces, Gloria Thurman and Sandy Thurman, along with nephews, Chuck (Kathy) Thurman and Chris (Kathy) Thurman.

Charlie was preceded in death by his brothers Ray Thurman, Howard Thurman, and Frank Thurman.
