Obituary

Charles O. Conley, Jr., DVM, left his earthly home and returned to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 30. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee, where he later attended public schools and graduated from White Station High School in 1968.  He went on to attend the University of Tennessee as an undergraduate, and completed his education at UT School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in the summer of 1981.

He was married to the love of his life, Melissa Snow, and sealed for time and all eternity on May 2, 1979, in the Washington, DC temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Following college, Charles and Melissa (Lisa) relocated to the Hixson area where he practiced veterinary medicine at Red Bank Animal Hospital for many years, later becoming a partner and co-owner of the hospital.

He was a member of the Hixson Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He will be missed by a whole host of family and friends, as well as co-workers and employees at Red Bank Animal Hospital.

He was a loving husband to his wife of 41 years, Melissa Snow Conley, and a loving father to 2 special daughters, Adrienne and Michelle, all of whom survive him. He was also a surrogate father to Destiny Shackleford and a "Pop Pop" to little Avi Shackleford and great friend to Jacob, Destiny's spouse, who also mourn his passing.

He is also survived by his brothers, Chris and David Conley and nieces, Katie and Megan Conley, as well as a nephew, Austin Conley.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Charles O. Conley, Sr. and Ruth Baumgartner, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edgar and Nora Snow.

The family would like to express appreciation to the doctors and staff at Erlanger Hospital who kept him comfortable during his stay there.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in his memory to the charity of your choice.
