Carl David James was born in Palmer Tn on September 8, 1939, passed away on April 5, 2026. Carl graduated from Grundy County High School. He continued his education at Belmont College in Nashville and at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga.
He was an ordained elder in the Presbyterian Church. He is a current member of the Hixson Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Rotary International for several years.
Carl was a gentle and caring man and a loving husband with an artist's soul. He loved to paint, travel, fish, hike and play golf.
He is survived by his wife Betty Howell James, children Carl Michael James (Pam) of Fort Payne, AL., Harold Douglas James of Granite, OK., Patricia James Hall (Andrew) of Nashville, TN., step children Wilma Tate Masterson (Bob) of Duluth, GA., Calvin L. Tate (Connie) of Nashville, TN., Bobbi Kristena Krengel of Atlanta, GA., 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Freida Mae Pope (Doyle), Linda Lou Germ (James). He is preceded in death by his parents Laden C. and Willie Mae James.
Visitation for Carl will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 4-6 PM at Hamilton Funeral Home 4506 Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN 37343. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 11 AM, in the chapel of Hamilton Funeral Home with Robert Johnson officiating interment will follow at Cagle-Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dunlap, TN.
