Mrs. Betty M. Rogers, age 91 of Red Bank Tenn., passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023 at a local hospital.

Mrs. Rogers was born in Sonoraville, Georgia on December 29th, 1931, to the late James L. McDearis and Ava M. Dobson McDearis. She grew up in Northeast Georgia, and was primarily raised by her father and grandparents. While at Sonoraville High School, she played Basketball and Softball. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Sonoraville until she moved to Chattanooga in 1950.

After moving to Chattanooga, she worked at "The Dime Store", The Southern Bell Telephone Company, and ended up at E.I. DuPont. While working at DuPont, she met Clarence V. Rogers, whom she married in 1955. After leaving DuPont in 1962, she enjoyed spending time with family and spent much of her adult life raising children and helping with grandchildren. She loved reading and working outside in her yard and garden. She also enjoyed feeding animals, especially birds, and the occasional raccoon when it passed through.

She was preceded in death by her mother Ava, her father James, her husband Clarence, her stepmother Mattie Lou, and her brother-in-law Ronnie.

She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Westerwal, her son Brian (Robin) E. Rogers, her grandchildren Kevin (Brooke) Flavin, Michael (Courtney) Flavin, Jamie (Keith) Morgan, Natalie Rogers, and Nicole Rogers, her great-grandchildren Tyson, Presley, Adler, Bentley, Breckin, Kyler, Dylan, and Ramsey, her sister Margret Turner, and her brother James McDearis.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, from 4 – 7 pm at Hamilton Funeral Home, 4506 Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN 37343.

A graveside service will be on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 12:30 pm, at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
