Bessie M. Mayes, 69, went to be with her heavenly Father Friday evening, November 12, 2021 in the Hospice Care Center of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Bessie was a data entry clerk for Olan Mills for 14 years and a hospital records clerk for 6 years.  She was preceded in death by her parents, John E. Sr. and Hazel B. Mayes, brother, John E. Mayes, Jr., sisters, Shirley Diane Mayes and Mary Katherine Mayes.

Survivors include her son, Timothy D. Watts, daughter, Sandra m. Crawley, both of Hixson; four sisters, Elizabeth E. Mayes, Joy E. Mayes, both of Hixson; Sara Jean (Pete) Ellis, Soddy-Daisy; Carolyn Mayes, Memphis, Tennessee; grandsons, Christopher "Shane" Arrawood and Nathaniel "Myles" Crawley, granddaughters, Megan B. Watts and Whitney E. Crawley and multiple great grandkids, nephew, John E. Mayes, III., Memphis, Tennessee.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hamilton Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Teddy Ott officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2021 prior to the funeral service in the chapel.
