Today is a day to cry many tears of joy and sorrow. This morning Dr. Albert C. Goss entered heaven and is experiencing joy and life unlike anything we are able to comprehend. He had a hard short battle with cancer and has completed his life mission of loving Jesus, loving his family, and living each day to tell others about Jesus.
Anyone who has heard the name Goss likely knows "Bro. Al" and has been impacted by his life. He shared the gospel with thousands of people across the globe. He gave his whole heart and life to Mile Straight Baptist Church and pastored there for 56 years. He exemplified a patient, gentle, hard working, prayer filled man. He loved his wife, Cherry, of nearly 71 years, dearly, and his family passionately. His home has always had an open door 24/7 policy with any number of friends, family, and anyone who just needs a hug and word of wisdom present every day.
It's hard to wrap our minds around the absence of your body here with us. But greater than this sorrow is the overwhelming joy and gratitude that we feel knowing that you are finally with Jesus. You have lived every day of your life seeking to know Jesus more deeply and now you finally get to see him face to face. We are so happy for you and celebrate the joy you are feeling now. We will miss you more than we can put into words. "Well done good and faithful servant."
"I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
For I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance, as it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain."
Philippians 1:3-6, 9-11, 19-21 ESV
